Probably still need to carry some things with you regardless though. Alternatively, you can spend precious skill points into slowing down your hunger/thirst rates. It is absolutely necessary unless you are only making short trips. You need to carry around food and drink with you. That means you're stuck with 99 stamina max. In a couple of seconds, you'll be back down to 99% fullness. Anything that went past 100% was wasted energy. Instead when you eat something it fills you to 100% - and that's it. Foods that don't fill you up much have to be carried in bulks, while foods that fill you up a lot would circumvent the necessity of having to waste inventory space on relatively short expeditions. In the current system now where your stamina cap and regen speed is determined by your food and water counts, this overfill mechanic would be excellent. It also prevented the player from maxing out Wellness too quickly or shrugging off every injury by just slamming down their excess food supplies. This ability to overfill your meters acted as a good way of not punishing players for eating big meals when they didn't absolutely need to. The extra fullness you gained past 100% was actually counted, so you wouldn't have to worry about food for a long time. While you'd only see yourself at 100% full, you'd stay at 100% for a considerable amount of time. If you were 99% of the way full, and ate something like a meat stew, you'd be put to 100% and get all the other benefits from the food. In A16 you couldn't eat if you were full, and couldn't drink if you weren't thirsty. Would be if not for another change they added. The penalties, IMO, should be delayed until at the very least 75% for fullness/thirst, better yet closer to 50%, but having more penalties for not taking care of yourself is definitely welcome. Surprisingly, this much as a change is actually okay. This immediately screams micromanagement and necessitates taking food with you on every single journey, forcing you to waste precious limited inventory space on food and drink. So, if at any point you're not 100% full on food or water, you're being penalized. If you are at 97% food, you get capped to 97% of your stamina meter.ĭitto goes your how much water you've consumed which, AFAIK, affects how fast your stamina regens (or otherwise how much gets used? not sure). If you are at 100% food, you get 100% of your stamina meter. Right now in A17, your stamina gets capped based on how hungry you are. A good example of why you don't fix things that aren't broken.
